The Ponderosa High School Bruin Bands provide students with meaningful opportunities to grow as musicians, leaders, and teammates. Our program includes marching band, concert band, beginning instruments, jazz band, indoor percussion, and color guard. Supported by dedicated music educators, administrators, community members, and the Bruin Band Boosters, our programs promote excellence in music education and foster a strong sense of community in Shingle Springs, California.

Students learn to combine music, movement, and teamwork by marching while playing and performing as part of a field show. The Bruin Marching Band & Guard support the football team, represent Ponderosa at community events, and compete throughout the Sacramento region.
From Beginning Band to Concert Band and Symphonic Band, students build strong musical foundations through daily rehearsal, ensemble performance, listening skills, technique development, and festival opportunities.
Jazz Band is a zero-period class focused on jazz-style music, improvisation, ensemble performance, rhythm, and style. Students perform at festivals, concerts, and community events while building creativity, confidence, and musicianship.
Winter Percussion performs indoor percussion shows during the spring semester at local events and competitions throughout the Sacramento region.

The Bruin Bands & Guard are now using the BAND App to help students and families stay informed throughout the school year. Families can use BAND to receive announcements, rehearsal updates, event reminders, volunteer information, and other important program communication.
